The Golan Heights Winery in northern Israel has a cold terrain which gets covered in snow each winter, providing an exceptional environment in which it produces a wine like this, with a lot of saline in the aroma. The 2015 Yarden Gerwurztraminer has a very light yellow coloring, almost translucent, not a deep golden color like some Gerwurtraminer wines can be. Very mineraly taste with bitter lemons, grapefruits and a touch tiley, like limestone flavor. The wine is pretty full bodied and spicy on the mouth with lots of bitterness and alcohol. The finish is strong spice and lemons but the acid almost gets lost because of the alcohol and bitterness that takes over. This is not a sweet wine.
